BASE | BASE was originally founded as KPN Orange, the third mobile operator in Belgium. At that launch, in 1999, KPN Orange was a 50/50 joint-venture between KPN N.V. and Orange plc and offered its products and services under the Orange brand name. In February 2001, KPN Mobile acquired the full ownership of KPN Orange. The company rebrands into BASE in the spring of 2002. By the end of December 2001, the company had over 1.000.000 subscribers, making it the fastest growing mobile operator in Belgium with a market share of around 13%.
